The newspaper Lanzhou July 22 (Reporter Li Manfu), an activity named "2006 Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Cup Truck Cross-country Race", held a departure ceremony in Lanzhou this morning. The six heavy trucks took off from Lanzhou and headed to Luqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
The competition began in May 13 in Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, and Xi’an. After a truck performance and selection of players, it arrived in Lanzhou today. They will play in the finals of Gannan Luqu from the 23rd to the 24th of this month. This competition will refer to the rules of the field cross-country race and use the unique local plateau hills, mountain grasslands and sandstone riverbed natural environment to design barriers for the roads and adopt the brand new "truck offroad race" as the form of automobile sports. The project was pushed to a higher level. In addition, the competition will also set up traditional projects such as gravel races and hill climbs.
This is the second time the province has held a similar competition. In May 2005, the first truck motocross race took place in Jinchang City and Jiayuguan City for a five-day competition.
