Three factors push China's auto electronics 2012 over the United States

According to iSuppli's research, the Chinese government's stimulus measures, the expansion of new markets in China, and the advancement of car functions are more advanced. Under these factors, the Chinese automotive electronics market is expected to surpass the United States in 2012.

In 2012, sales of Chinese automotive electronics will increase from US$16 billion in 2009 to US$20.6 billion. In 2012, the US automotive electronics market will be $20.5 billion, and the first position will be given to China.

Compared to the United States, Japan, and India, the Chinese automotive electronics industry did not suffer much from the economic downturn in 2009. During the recession, China was the only region where auto electronics sales grew.

Stimulated by government subsidies, sales in areas where vehicle sales were previously very low increased, and in 2009 and 2010, China's auto sales were promoted.

This has driven China’s share of global vehicle sales in 2009 from 13.5% in 2008 to 18.5%. It is expected that China’s share in 2013 will increase to 20.9%.

At the same time, automotive electronics in the Chinese market will become more advanced, and cars will use more electronic devices.

At present, the mainstream automotive electronic systems in the Chinese market are not very complicated and the level of intelligence is not high. These systems are mainly focused on steering, driver assistance, passive occupant protection, braking and control systems, and comfort and convenience.

However, in the next three years, customers will require automotive electronics to improve ease of use, comfort and safety. These include energy systems, safety systems, collision avoidance, drive-by-wire, control systems, smart sensors and actuators, integrated automotive electrical and electronic systems, and thermal comfort systems.

ISuppli Corporation predicts that the sales of China's automotive safety control electronics applications will reach US$2.5 billion in 2010, an increase of 25.6% over 2009. In the next five years, the market will double and become one of the most important driving forces in China's overall automotive electronics industry.
