In March 2013, Bridgestone Co., Ltd. announced that the Group has successfully developed a narrow tread large-diameter " Large & Narrow concept tire " that is different from any of the previous tires . This is a new tire technology that Bridgestone has developed to achieve sustainable development of society, taking into consideration energy-saving, fuel-efficient and safe driving.
This new technology has not only made tire specifications unprecedented in the "narrow tread large diameter" design (ie, narrow tire treads, tire diameter expansion), while also using the pressure is also a high internal pressure reform. Together with the newly-developed special pattern technology and special formula, this tire has surpassed previous technological innovations, effectively reducing tire rolling resistance and enhancing wet grip performance.
"Large & Narrow concept tires", as a technology that can reduce fuel consumption of automobiles and reduce CO2 emissions, has always been one of Bridgestone's priorities. In the future, Bridgestone will incorporate such tires into its green flagship eco-label ECOPIA brand, and strive to realize practical applications including the next generation car's original factory support as soon as possible. It is understood that Bridgestone's "Large & Narrow Concept Tire" has been officially unveiled at the "2013 Geneva Motor Show" that opened on March 5, 2013.
As the world’s largest tire manufacturer, the Bridgestone Group has long been committed to advancing “reducing fuel consumption to reduce CO2 emissions†and “100% sustainable†activities through sustainable development in both business and environment. Continue to provide customers with attractive quality products. Bridgestone said that in order to achieve a "sustainable development" society, research and development of various technologies will continue to be made in the future to make due contributions to a low-carbon and environmentally friendly automobile society.
New Technology Features of "Large & Narrow Concept Tires"
1, environmental performance
Due to the large diameter of the tire and the high internal pressure, the deformation of the carcass at the tire contact portion can be greatly suppressed. At the same time, through the optimal design of the structure and material, the tire can reduce the rolling resistance coefficient by about 30% compared with the conventional tire size (175/65R15)*1. In addition, the narrow tread design also reduces the air resistance that has a significant impact on fuel consumption. Therefore, compared with Bridgestone energy-saving tires currently on the market, the tire's fuel economy is even more prominent.
2, safety performance
Through the narrow tread of the tire, it can effectively reduce the resistance caused by water in the road area during rainy days. At the same time, the special shape design for increasing the grounding shape of tires and increasing the contact pressure of tires has led to a significant increase in the drainage performance of tires. Together with the newly developed special pattern design and special formula, the wet brake performance of the tire can be improved by about 8%*2 compared to conventional products, ensuring excellent safety performance.
