(Reporter Meng Chaohong Contributing Reporter Zhang Chi) On May 12, the reporter learned from the China National Bluestar Group that the company and the Rhodia Group had jointly invested in a 200,000-ton/year organic silicon in Tianjin. The core intermediate (methylchlorosilane) project signed a memorandum of understanding. The project is controlled by China Bluestar and plans to start production at the end of 2007.
China Bluestar and Rhodia Group are working hard to establish a comprehensive global strategic alliance with upstream and downstream silicones. The main purpose of forming this alliance is to establish a global joint venture company with a capital structure of 50:50 to conduct organic silicon technology research and development, intermediate production and in-depth processing, and supply organic silicone products to the world.
Through the formation of a strategic alliance, the two sides combined China's Bluestar's advantages in single-cell silicon production and the advantages of various types of organosilicon products developed by Rhodia in France, leveraging the foundations that both parties have formed in Asia (China), Europe (France) and other regions. With its strength, the joint venture company formed has become a silicone supplier with strong growth potential worldwide, especially in the Asia Pacific region.
It is understood that after the project is put into production by the end of 2007, Bluestar’s total production capacity of silicone core intermediates will reach 400,000 tons/year.
