Tiejian Heavy Industry Gives birth to "Twin" Shield Machine in Changsha

A few days ago, at the Tiejian Heavy Industry Roadheader Manufacturing Plant in Changsha Economic Development Zone, two earth pressure balance shield machines with similar appearance and performance were rolled out simultaneously. The offline shield machine will be used for the construction of Shenzhen Metro Line 20.

The author learned that these two shield machines followed the mighty power of the country’s weights. They were all 6.98 meters in diameter, 85 meters in length, 550 tons in weight, and 2,160 kilowatts of installed power. The two shield machines with completely independent intellectual property rights are the support of the National “863 Plan” and the major special projects for science and technology and strategic emerging industries in Hunan Province. According to Cheng Yongliang, general manager of Tiejian Heavy Industry, the two shield machines will be used for the construction of Shenzhen Metro Line 20, a supporting municipal project of the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center, and will focus on the tunnel construction at the North Station of the Airport North Station and the North Station of the International Convention and Exhibition Center. It is reported that this 6.7-kilometre tunnel has uneven weathering, uneven softness and hardness, and high rock strength.
