Shanxi Coal Chemical Industry Key Catalytic Technology Breakthrough

The reporter learned from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology on November 4 that a major breakthrough has been made in the key catalytic technologies in the modern coal chemical industry chain in Shanxi Province, which was undertaken by Shanxi University, and “catalyst research and catalytic process technology based on methanol, benzene downstream fine chemical industrial chain”. The "industrialization development" project achieved initial results and developed a 3,000-ton/year process software package in collaboration with the project unit. At present, Yangmei Coal Group and Henan Coal Coal Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. are embarking on the construction of a 3,000-ton/year industrial demonstration plant. For a long time, most of the production technologies involved in this industry chain have been monopolized by foreign countries, and domestic advanced technologies with independent intellectual property rights and in line with geographical advantages have been seriously lacking, which has limited the co-production, high added value, and clean development of coal downstream chemical products in China. In the "12th Five-Year Plan" major scientific and technological projects in Shanxi Province, Shanxi University undertook the "industrial development based on catalyst research and catalytic process technology in the methanol and benzene downstream fine chemical industry chain," starting in 2011, on the industrial chain. The joint development of the catalyst, catalyst engineering, catalytic reaction process and related supporting equipment technologies involved. At present, after a laboratory pilot test and a hundred-ton pilot test, the project unit has developed a 3,000 tons/year maleic anhydride catalytic hydrogenation continuous succinic anhydride coproduction succinic acid technology package.
