TMS Shipbuilding Engineering Technology, a subsidiary of Hanjin Heavy Industries, has recently successfully developed a new type of container ship that is energy efficient and improves shipboard efficiency. Compared with existing similar container ships, this type of ship can increase engine power by 7% and Amplitude reduces energy consumption.
TMS introduced the concept of “Supet Slow Steaming” in the development and design of this new ship type. The size of the ship is the same as that of the current 3600TEU container ship, but it can significantly improve the operational efficiency. Even if the ship has less force, the sailing speed is faster than the existing ship. . The solution adopted by TMS in the development and design is to improve the low-speed sailing performance of the ship, so that the ship can only output 70%~80% of propulsion power during navigation to achieve the goal of saving fuel and improving efficiency by 7%. According to reports, after the outbreak of the international financial crisis, the maritime market was in a downturn. Container ships generally adopted methods to reduce the speed of the ship to save energy and reduce costs. The unavoidable measures of shipping companies opened the design idea of ​​TMS technicians.
At present, this achievement of TMS has been applied to a 3800TEU container ship being built by Hanjin Philippine Subic Shipyard. It is understood that TMS was independent from Hanjin Heavy Industry in June last year, and formed a professional shipbuilding engineering technology company.
