On October 26, 2011, Foton Motor's first model of a new generation of multi-functional pickup trucks for the global market started its debut in Beijing. It is understood that Roadwalker is a high-end pick-up truck with advanced manufacturing technology for Foton Motor. It is the sixth-generation pick-up truck type built by Foton Motor using an international platform and is intended to be used in the international market.
Wang Xiangyin, general manager of Futian Overseas Division, said that pickup is one of the fastest-growing segments of Foton Motor's overseas business. In the first three quarters of this year, Foton Motor's overseas business grew rapidly, achieving 29,023 units of sales, among which Futian Auman Zhongzhong, and overseas sales of cards and pickup trucks increased rapidly, selling 4,417 units and 3,164 units respectively, which represented a year-on-year increase of 166.1% and 164.1%, respectively.
At the press conference, Foton Motor’s 2012 overseas business strategy showed that Foton plans to sell 37,000 overseas trucks and 18,000 passenger cars in 2012, an increase of 72.6% and 110.3% respectively year-on-year. Fukuda's channel network will reach 95 in 2012, an increase of 32% year-on-year.
According to relevant data from the China Automobile Association, the export market has become the main force driving the growth of automobile production and sales this year in the depressed domestic market. The annual export of automobiles is expected to exceed 800,000 vehicles. The overseas business strategy of Foton Motor aims to provide strong support for the overall development of Foton Motor.
