At the "Focus on low-carbon cities" international university student environmental forum and the China Youth Simulation City Conference, Wu Guihui, chief engineer of the National Energy Administration, revealed that China's new energy development has seized a number of "world firsts."
In 2009, China's hydropower installed capacity reached 197 million kilowatts, ranking the first in the world, achieving 520 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions reduction annually; wind power has doubled for three consecutive years, and wind power installed capacity reached 267, 605, and 12.17 million kilowatts respectively in 2006-2008, 2009 The annual installed capacity exceeded 22 million kilowatts, ranking third in the world. Wind power has become the most growth energy in China after hydropower and thermal power; nuclear power is under construction in the world's largest scale, and after more than 30 years of development, China has completed nuclear power investment. There are 11 units with an installed capacity of 9.17 million kilowatts and a power generation of 69.2 billion kwh. This is equivalent to a reduction of 32 million tons of raw coal per year. At present, 30 nuclear power stations have been newly approved, totaling 32.7 million kilowatts of which 23 are under construction. Build 57 nuclear power units, which is the largest scale in China.
With regard to the utilization of solar water heaters, China is also ranked first in the world. China is also the world's largest producer of solar photovoltaic cells. At present, the annual output of solar photovoltaic cells is about 4 million kilowatts, accounting for 40% of global production. . In addition, the installed capacity of biomass power generation reached 4.5 million kilowatts in 2009, including 2 million kilowatts of straw power generation and 300,000 kilowatts of waste-to-energy power generation; 35 million household biogas digesters in the country, 1,500 large-scale farm biogas projects, and an annual biogas production of 15 billion yuan. Cubic meters; biofuels are gradually developing, with 1.37 million tons of fuel ethanol, which has achieved good demonstration effect; research and industrialization of non-food fuel ethanol technology is advancing, and other new energy technologies and industries are at an initial stage.
Wu Guihui said that in the coming period, it will also focus on promoting geothermal energy development, energy storage technology, and new energy R&D pilot demonstration projects.
