The world's most advanced ocean-going teaching practice ship "Yu Yu" in the Han River

At present, the world's most advanced dedicated ocean-going teaching practice ship was built in Wuchang Shipyard. The Vice Minister of Education Wu Qidi officially named the ship "Yuyu". The construction of the ship has filled the gap of the non-teaching train ship of the maritime higher education institutions in China, and has a milestone significance in the high maritime education in China.

“Yuyu” is the first special navigation teaching practice ship built and built by Dalian Maritime University for self-developed design and introduction of key equipment.

The ship has a total length of 116 meters, a width of 18 meters, a depth of 8.35 meters, a design draught of 5.4 meters, and a continuous navigation capacity of 10,000 nautical miles. It can accommodate 200 students on the ship for teaching internships.

After the ship is completed, it mainly sails on the coastal areas of China and the world's major ports. It is used for teaching internships in marine engineering, as well as scientific research and actual ship testing in transportation engineering, navigation and marine engineering.

According to the plan, the ship will travel to Taiwan next year to conduct academic exchanges between the two sides.

Compared with the world's similar educational practice ship, the ship is specially designed for the teaching internship of marine students, and reasonablely set up various teaching internships and scientific research places. The cabin standards are high and the functional area layout is reasonable.

Vice Minister of Communications Weng Mengyong, member of the Standing Committee of Wuhan Municipal Committee and deputy mayor Yuan Shanla attended the naming ceremony of the launching water.
