The largest domestic bisphenol A project started in Shanghai

With a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan, Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals Co., Ltd. has an annual output of 120,000 tons of bisphenol A project. It broke ground in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone on July 28th, which opened the curtain for the construction of the largest domestic bisphenol A plant. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2007.

The project of producing 120,000 tons of bisphenol A per year is an integral part of the construction of product projects in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone and an important link in the extension of the product chain layout. The phenol and acetone required for its annual installation will be wholly supplied by Sinopec with a 200,000 tons/year phenol/acetone plant built solely in the Chemical Zone and will be supplied at an internationally competitive market price. The water, electricity, steam, and nitrogen used in the project are all supported by the public works of the integrated construction of Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, which fully realizes the mutual supply of raw materials and products among the various projects in the region, and improves the interdependence of enterprises on the product chain. Reduce production costs and reflect the unique advantages of product integration for mutual assistance and mutual benefit. In addition, the annual production of 120,000 tons of bisphenol A device using DCS control, to achieve a high degree of automation. In accordance with the principle of clean production, the project plans to use the world-leading level of ion exchange resin method bisphenol A production process. This technology uses phenol and acetone as the main raw materials and catalyzes the synthesis of bisphenol A in a reactor equipped with an ion exchange resin. Compared with traditional hydrochloric acid production of bisphenol A technology, the ion process technology is mature, industrial production is stable, has the characteristics of large production capacity, low raw material consumption and good product quality; at the same time, the catalyst and reaction materials of the reaction system are easy to separate, the process flow Simple, no acid, phenol-containing wastewater, no corrosion of equipment, minimized impact on the environment.

It is also understood that 14 major projects will be completed and put into operation in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in the second half of the year.
