Otoliv is developing a vehicle-based alcohol breath sensor

Autoliv announced that it is developing an alcohol breathable sensor that can be built into the vehicle. When the driver gets into the car, the sensor can work automatically.

Ottolev CEO Jan Carlson said the company is currently testing the sensor, which can replace breath alcohol testing.

Carlson said that the sensor will be available five years later, consumers will be very interested in it, the data show that 30% of car accident deaths are caused by drunk driving.

After occupying the market of passive safety system products (such as seat belts, airbags, etc.), Autolif is currently turning its attention to the active safety system product market. Carlson said that currently Autoliv’s investment in active safety system products is much higher than that of passive safety system products.
