JCB new telescopic loader TM420 is coming soon

Recently, JCB announced that it will release a larger model of the TM420 Telescopic Loader at the Agritechnica Machinery and Technology Show in Hanover, Germany on November 12-18, 2017.

Compared to the 3.2-ton capacity TM320 and TM320S models, the maximum load capacity of the new TM420 will increase by 32% to 4.1 tons, and the maximum lifting height will reach 5.4 meters. The new TM420 inherits the latest technological advancements on the TM320 and TM320S models, such as daily checklists, LED work lights, self-lubricated bushes, and maximum lubrication intervals up to 500 hours in the cab.

The TM420 is equipped with a 108kW (145hp) JCB EcoMAX diesel engine that complies with the EU EUStage IV and North American UST4F emission standards. The aftertreatment device uses a selective catalytic reduction SCR but does not require a diesel particulate filter DPF.

In addition, in order to provide higher performance and greater productivity, the new TM420 is also equipped with:

Regenerative hydraulic circuit, boom lower speed, in order to speed up the material loading operation cycle speed;

A more durable frame design, with a larger pin and bushing at the center pivot;

Heavy-duty HD JCB axle, permanent 4 wheel drive to accommodate greater material load capacity;

Larger 26-inch tires, greater traction, greater resistance to subsidence, and greater productivity;

Product family expansion

The new TM420 expands the product range of telescopic wheel loaders. The 48 kW (64 hp) TM180 has a maximum load of 1.8 tons and a maximum lift of 4.5 meters. The 55 kW (74 hp) TM220 has a maximum load of 2.2 tons and a maximum lift of 4.6 meters. It is designed for light-load livestock farms. The 93 kW (125 hp) TM320 and the 108 hp (145 hp) TM320S are more suitable for use in larger storage and plantation applications.

The TM320S engine is more powerful and hydraulically powerful. The gearbox is equipped with a torque lock function. It has greater climbing performance and is best suited to conditions such as silage and silt waste.

The unified feature of all the equipment is that it has a central driving position similar to that of a tractor. The engine is arranged in the tail as a counterweight and plays a very good natural stabilizing effect, and the traction is greater when driving on a soft and slippery road surface.

JCB intelligent hydraulic system

The new TM420 is equipped with a plunger pump with a maximum flow rate of 160 liters per minute. Larger cylinders can provide a lifting capacity of up to 4.1 tons from the ground to 32% higher than the TM320S. The hydraulic regeneration system used accelerates the working cycle speed. The hydraulic regeneration function has been verified on JCB telehandlers. When the driver lowers the boom type, the valve plug allows hydraulic oil to flow from one end of the lift cylinder directly to the other to speed up the work cycle. The boom's own gravity also speeds up the working cycle, allowing the boom to fall faster than the TM320 and TM320S. The digging force of at least 6 tons brought by the Z-bar linkage and the attachment mast greatly improves productivity.

At the same time, there are three types of SRS smooth running system configured by JCB - open, closed or automatic mode. The end of the hydraulic cylinder buffer function, standard in the boom out, retract, lift and bucket cylinder discharge end, which greatly increased the driver's driving experience. High-flow single/dual auxiliary lines provide hydraulic power output for dunnage or silage feeds.

Frame upgrade

To accommodate the TM420's greater load capacity, larger models of pins and bushings are used at the hinged frame connections. Like TM320 and TM320S, graphite-infiltrated copper bushings extend the daily maintenance cycle to 500 hours. Four-wheel drive rear driveshafts and frame pivots use new self-lubricating bearings.

In addition, the TM420's wheelbase and overall dimensions are the same as other models, so it has the same excellent maneuverability. In addition, the short engine hood design makes the entire rear working field of vision equally excellent. Users can also install rearview cameras.

Comfortable cab

The TM420's oil level, coolant, and glass cleaning fluid level alerts are integrated into the full-color dashboard. The system automatically checks when the system is turned on. If there is an abnormality, it will automatically alarm. Thanks to the large-area glass design, an all-round view in the cab is more conducive to job safety. The larger capacity air-conditioning filter cartridge is almost twice as large as the TM320/TM320S, ensuring a longer replacement cycle. The right-hand storage box can store tools, connectors and other equipment.

Large-sized work lights, even when working on dark nights, have no difficulty. Of course, customers can also choose to use 360° LED lights to get a full range of brighter lighting.

The TM420 uses proven power components, including a 4.8-liter JCBEcoMAX four-cylinder engine, equipped with an SCR to meet the latest engine emissions standards. In-cylinder clean combustion technology means that no DPF is needed, reducing engine complexity. Maximum power 108kW, torque 560Nm, can be installed hydraulically driven fan, you can achieve manual reversal or automatic reversal every 15 or 30 minutes to clean the dust and dirt on the cooler.

With a 6-speed JCB power shift transmission, the driver can choose between manual mode and automatic mode. The torque converter automatic locking function provides efficient direct drive capability for more than 2 speeds, more outstanding climbing performance, road capacity at 40kph, and trailer towing capacity of 15 tons.

The JCB Max-Trac Axle has a limited-slip differential to ensure excellent driving force in slippery conditions. If 26-foot wheels and tires are fitted, the performance is better. Like TM320 and TM320S, TM420 can choose traditional tractor-style tires or Michelin tread tires, which is the most up-to-date choice for equipment that often travels on hard surfaces.
