Star Micronics has developed the diaphragm type micro pump "SDMP301" using piezoelectric elements. Since the pump, motor and shaft are not used, the power consumption is low. The product regulates flow and discharge pressure by varying the drive voltage and drive frequency. The maximum flow rate is 1.5 mL/min and the maximum pump pressure is 55 kPa.
SDMP301 is equivalent to the "SDMP205" follow-up model released in October 2004, and adopts the same internal structure as "SDMP305" released in August 2005. By mechanically oscillating the diaphragm designed inside the pump, a volume change is formed to transport the liquid and the gas.
The product measures 25 x 25 x 4.8 mm and weighs about 4 g, basically the same as the SDMP305. The intended use is to supply fuel to small fuel cells equipped with laptops and PDAs.
