For companies interested in investing in the west, perhaps these are all opportunities - a series of puzzles for Xinjiang Balikun

A report submitted by the Economic and Trade Bureau of Balikun Kazakh Autonomous County in Xinjiang to the relevant authorities of the country recently revealed that many chemical companies in the Balikun area, one of the three major producing areas of sodium sulfide in China, are faced with multiple development challenges. These enterprises are eager to get help from mainland enterprises.
Balikun is the largest inorganic salt chemical base in Xinjiang. The report pointed out that since Balikun founded the first chemical plant in the 1960s, the inorganic salt chemical industry has gone through 40 years. However, in these 40 years, many problems have always been accompanied by Barry Kun Chemicals.
The first is the similarity of production processes and products. Bakun size chemical companies are using carbon reduction method to prepare ordinary sulfuric acid, rather than the more advanced hydrogen sulfide method, barium sulfide method, gas reduction method.
The second is that most enterprises have a small scale of production. The smallest chemical company in the region has only one converter and the largest company has only nine converters. Due to the monotonous production of products and the high cost, coupled with the tight rail transportation and high sales costs, Ballykun Chemical companies are often at a disadvantage in competition with sulfur sulfide companies in the Mainland.
Another point is scattered. Barry Kun's chemical companies are scattered on the shoreline of 15 kilometers along the bank of Lake Balikun. Different companies register different trademarks, the quality of products is also uneven, resources are not properly allocated, and there is no proper agglomeration effect. Although the total area of Glacier Lake in Balikun is still nearly 100 square kilometers, due to the warming of climate in recent years, the rain and snow have decreased, and the water consumption of the upstream farming and animal husbandry has been increasing year by year. The wells around the lake have become more and more frequent, and Glauber's Lake is being worked on. Shrinking year by year. If you allow the Glauber's Lake to continue to shrink, eventually the chemical industry in Balikun will face an absence of rice.
Now, the environmental protection problem is also becoming more and more prominent. According to tests, sulfur dioxide emissions around the Glacial Salt Lake, which is concentrated in the Balikun chemical company, reach 0.42 million tons, 42,000 tons of dust and 70 tons of hydrogen sulfide each year. Each ton of sulfurized alkali produces 200 kg of waste residue. At present, the waste stored in this area is estimated to be more than 1 million tons.
Lack of talent is also a problem that has plagued the chemical industry in Balikun. Most of the workers in Balikun Chemicals are from rural areas and have not been systematically trained. Management and chemical professionals are even more scarce.
This report hopes that mainland investors interested in investing in the west will be able to establish more contacts with Barry Kun Chemicals. Because the difficulties here are also opportunities for the development of mainland enterprises.
