China has a large-scale high-tech value-added ship design and development capabilities

China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry International Trading Co., Ltd. and Barge Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. jointly signed a contract for the construction of two 320,000 DWT super large oil tankers (VLCC) in Beijing, jointly developed by the United Seller and Global Shipping Co., Ltd., which was independently developed by Barge Heavy Industries. The new ship type with independent intellectual property rights is currently the world's largest VLCC super-large oil tanker. The successful signing of the contract marks a solid step for the large-scale and high-tech content of the barge heavy industry product structure.
The Global Shipping Company was founded in 1955 in Hong Kong, China by the late Sir Jay. The contracted VLCC has a total length of 332.77 meters, a width of 60.00 meters, a design draught of 21.00 meters, and a speed of 16.1 knots. It is one of the fastest VLCCs with a load of more than 2.1 million barrels of oil. The ship was designed and developed according to the shipowner's needs, and is in line with the common specifications of the Tanker Structure (JTP), the latest conventions and the advanced ship types required by the world's major oil companies. Its successful development design shows that the barge heavy industry has the independent design and development capabilities of ultra-large, high-tech value-added ships.
Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., which is engaged in the construction of this batch of ships, is a large-scale modern shipbuilding base in China. The company has independently developed 174,000 tons of environmentally-friendly bulk carriers with independent intellectual property rights in China. In December 2005, Barge Heavy Industries signed a shipbuilding contract for 2+2 1,500,000-ton crude oil ships with the world-renowned Canadian TeeKay Company, and signed 2+2 297,000-ton super large oil tankers (VLCC) and 4+6+2 ships 46,000 with Nanjing Changjiang Oil Transportation Company. The construction contract of a total of 1.4 million tons and 7 billion yuan for tons of oil tankers and liquefied petroleum gas carriers (LPG) has attracted wide attention from the shipbuilding industry, the shipping industry and many news media at home and abroad. At present, the shipbuilding work of the barge heavy industry ship has been scheduled for 2010.
