In 2006, the major economic indicators of China's plastics industry increased significantly, of which total profits increased by more than 30%, but experts pointed out that the plastics industry still has problems such as blind investment. This reporter learned from the 21st China International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries (abbreviated as 2007 Chinaplas).
Liao Authentic, president of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, said that in 2006, the output of enterprises above designated size of plastic products in China was 28,019 thousand tons, an increase of 18.68% over the same period of last year. The growth rate of major economic indicators of enterprises above the scale of plastic products exceeds 20%, of which gross output value has increased by more than 25% year-on-year, main business revenue has increased by 23.96%, total profits and taxes have increased by 27.21%, and total profits have increased by as much as 30.36%.
Liao believes that, despite the rapid development of the plastics industry, the industry has not yet shaken off the difficult situation of rising prices of raw materials, power shortages, blind investment, similar products, and disorderly competition. During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period, in order to make the industry sustainable development, the Chinese plastics industry should increase investment in the following aspects: First, strengthen independent innovation, improve product quality, and enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises; second, increase energy conservation and consumption reduction. Reduce costs; third is to strengthen the recycling of plastic waste, take the road of circular economy and sustainable development, and at the same time increase the research and development of degradable plastics and industrialize it as soon as possible.
From May 21st to 24th, 2007, Chinaplas 2007 was held in Pazhou Complex of China Export Commodities Fair in Guangzhou. The exhibition area reached 102,000 square meters. Nearly 1,600 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions participated in the exhibition and displayed more than 1,200 machines and various chemical raw materials. Zhu Yulun, chairman of the exhibition organiser Adsale Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., said that 65% of the exhibitors and more than 1,000 companies at the China International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition came from overseas.
Before and after the exhibition, professional and technical forums such as "2007 China and India Plastics Industry Cooperation and Development Summit Forum", "President Forum", "Chinese and Foreign Plastics Machinery New Technology New Products Release and Review Conference" were held.
