Before the power supply, there is a function of detecting and identifying. When the device is connected, the PoE switch sends a signal to the network to detect whether the IP terminal in the network has a PoE-supported device. If it is supported, the PoE switch will give it. Power supply, if it does not support PoE switch, it will not supply power. This has a protective effect on the IP terminal to prevent burning of the device.
The non-standard PoE switch does not have a PoE control chip inside, and directly transfers power through the idle line pairs 45 and 78 in the network cable. This step is not detected. Regardless of whether the IP terminal supports PoE, it will supply power to it. If the IP terminal does not support PoE power supply, it is likely to burn the network port, that is, burn out the device.
Although non-standard PoE switches are incomparable with standard PoE switches, there are still some non-standard PoE switches on the market. Mainly because non-standard work is simple, there is not much technical content, and the cost is relatively cheap.
Note: Standard POE switches can be directly connected to non-POE devices. Non-standard POEs cannot be accessed. For non-standard access, terminals need to add POE splitters.
